MAKING MUSIC FOR EVANGELISM
Lone Star Glory, the house band for St. Paul Episcopal Church in Waxahachie, was born in October, 2002 as an outgrowth of a fundraising committee. They began playing for church fundraising events but their ministry quickly turned to evangelism as they took their music "on the road" to community events.
The band performs blues, country, rock and gospel. As they explain, "It's not praise music, and it's not all gospel. It's music that talks about Jesus and Christian values -- with a beat!" Their choice of music is an evolution of their growth together and each member brings a different flavor to the mix.
The band members include Jennifer Raynor Sloan, singer; Stephen Sloan, singer/songwriter and rhythm guitarist; Robert Wellborn, lead guitarist; Chuck Fitzhugh, keyboard player; Kevin Harris, bass guitarist; and, Tab Bartlett, drummer.
Lone Star Glory is available for church and community events and for private functions. They also play for congregational events and parties. As Jennifer says, "We play for the love of God, but we also play for the love of our music and our church family."
